MTB > ABOUT US
For 25 years, MTB Equipment has been at the forefront for design, development and quality manufacture of passenger seating in the UK and Europe.
John Mainwaring and Tony Berrington started the company in 1982 with the following basic principles :-
- Innovative Design
- Quality Manufacture
- Unrivalled Service and Support
The successes quickly moved the business premises from North Marston in Buckinghamshire to a 23,000 sq foot factory in Bletchley, Milton Keynes. Realising the need to focus on separate industrial sectors in the UK, the company's operating structure was split into 2 divisions. (Bus / Coach Seating and Rail Seating). In 2004 the company opened a new purpose built facility at a 2 acre site at Deeside, North Wales.
The close alliance made in 1986 with European Seat manufacturer FAINSA enabled MTB Equipment to produce a wide range of rail seating for domestic and international contracts. These ranged from Class 323, 158 and 159 rolling stock in the UK, to providing all seating for the international supply of the Malaysian state Railway's.
Nowadays, with the experience gained in the manufacture of new rail seating has allowed MTB Equipment to excel in the Rail Refurbishment sector. Current contracts include Euro-star Rolling Stock Refurbishment from 2003 – 2005, and London Underground District Line Refurbishments that is ongoing in 2006.
Not forgetting the success of the Bus & Coach Markets, a growing market for low floor buses in London and the introduction of seat belts on most passenger vehicles served to drive this division forward in late 1990’s to early 2000. The long-standing Buckingham High Back seat provided a fantastic utility seat that provided solutions for all types and sizes of vehicles. Whilst the introduction of the Cosmic Urban range and Gaudi Recliner seating really demonstrated the commitment to design, manufacture and service. Now with Gala Recliner, Metropolis Urban and Punt interurban seat ranges launched, and always new innovations in development, the future looks very promising.
